PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the safety for crews by effectively crushing a body member in the rear part of a front panel upon bumping, so as to prevent a steering column from rearward moving. SOLUTION: In a vehicle front body structure in which an air duct 6 serving as a body member having a closed sectional shape structure composed of a front face panel 6a and a rear face panel 6b having U-like cross-sectional shapes and joined together in the rear part of a front panel 1, is laid widthwise of the vehicle, a single recess 8 having a widthwise long length and having a wide and deep center part, while having a width and a depth which are gradually decreased laterally, is formed in the front surface of the front face panel 6a of the air duct 6, a curved step part 9 is formed in one or each of the upper and lower surfaces of at least both side parts of the rear face panel 6b of the air duct 6. With this arrangement, collapse of the vertical section of the air duct is induced by a forward load upon bumping so as to absorb bumping energy, thereby it is possible to prevent the duct 6 from rearward moving.
