ARRANGEMENTS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING A RADIO FREQUENCY SIGNAL

PURPOSE: Arrangements for generating a radio frequency signal are provided to modulate and amplify power of an information signal capable of carrying out very high linearity and efficiency over a wide frequency band. CONSTITUTION: Modulation and amplification of the information signal (XIF) is carried out with very high linearity and efficiency over a wide frequency band by sigma-delta modulating (410) said information signal (XIF), whereby a digital signal (Y) is generated. The digital signal (Y) is up-mixed and voltage switched(420) by voltage-fed switches (423) controlled by the up-mixed digital signal (RF). The switches are preferably conductive elements whose electric conductivity depend on the amount of ionising radiation that falls on the elements.
