A moving sidewalk having, ahead and behind a main circulating belt (27), independent getting-on and getting-off belts (21, 51) and one or plurality of accelerating/decelerating belts (22 to 25, 52, 53), the traveling speeds of the getting-on/getting-off belts and the accelerating/decelerating belts being gradually slower for belts gradually closer to the entrance or exit sides and gradually faster for belts gradually closer to the main circulating belt, of which traveling speed is set to be the fastest, wherein speeds of adjacent belts are set so that the difference between squares of the speeds of these belts does not exceed a specified value.
