PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify structure of a waterproof connector using gel material. SOLUTION: In the waterproof connector, there is mounted a backing plate 35 on a back of a female housing 11, and a first gel material 38 is placed behind the backing plate 35. A pressing member 42 is placed behind the first gel material 38 so as to be externally fitted at a rear end of the female housing 11. The pressing member 42 is provided with a lock arm 48 which can be elastically fitted to a lock projecting part 8 of a mating male housing 1. When a female connector F is fitted to a male connector M side after the female connector F is temporary assembled, the lock arm 48 is locked by the lock protrusion 8 and both of the connectors F, M are thereby locked under fitted condition. During the time, the first gel material 38 is compressed between the backing plate 35 and the pressing member 42 to seal a rear face side of the female housing 11, and locking by the lock arm 48 retains the condition that the pressing member 42 compresses the first gel material 38.
