PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it compatible to prevent a dropout and suppress wasteful electric power consumption. SOLUTION: A reading system reads a compressed music data and an address data at a high rate from a recording MD 1 rotated at a high speed, and a shockproof memory controller 15 writes the compressed music data in a DRAM 14 at a high rate, and reads the data from the DRAM 14 at a low rate. When the DRAM 14 is filled to capacity, reading is interrupted and a fullness notifying signal is issued, and when a remaining data amount becomes W or less, a empty generation notifying signal is issued. A system controller 18 makes the reading system stand still once when receiving the fullness notification and makes it restart operating when receiving the empty generation notification, and makes it search for the previous last read position, and makes it restart reading the compressed music data and writing it in the DRAM 14 after the position has been searched. The controller 18 collates a present reading address with UTOC information when receiving a fullness notification, and discriminates whether or not the address is in the vicinity of the end position in the continuous recording section, and increases W if the address is in the vicinity of the end position, and decreases W if it is not in the vicinity thereof.
