PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to continuously reproduce holograms by a display surface which is reversibly changed in the optical characteristics of a visible region by electron beams and is relatively stable in the characteristics after the change and is long in life. SOLUTION: This hologram reproduction device has the display surface 1 which is changed in the optical characteristics by irradiation with electron beams, an electron beam irradiation means 4 which writes interference fringes 3 necessary for hologram reproduction by irradiating the display surface with the electron beams 2 and read-out photoirradiation means 7 and 9 which execute hologram reproduction by irradiating the interference fringes written on the display surface with read-out light 5. In such a case, the display surface is constituted by using alkali halides or alkaline earth halides.
