PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the stop of a following linedly connected train in the train stopping position by using a non-contact type distance sensor. SOLUTION: The train stop detecting device is a system, when a following train 2 is connected to a preceding train 1 being stopped in a prescribed position, after confirming the following train 2 is once stopped in the train stopping position for lighting a guide signal lamp 4. A non-contact type distance sensor (sensor head 7) is installed by the side of a railway line in front of the train stopping position. By detecting the displacement of the output signal emitted from the distance sensor, the stop of the train is confirmed, so that the guide signal lamp 4 can be lit.
