PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for producing a rod with a screw thread capable of preventing a flaw due to a send-out side end part of a rotary rest in form rolling a screw thread on the outer circumferential face of a rod stock. SOLUTION: A rotary rest 22 rotatably supported around its axis at the state in contact with a rod stock by a support plate 24 is provided with a cylindrical support face 54 to support the rod stock and a sending-out side retreating face 56 which is continuously formed from a sending-out side end part of the cylindrical support face 54 and apart from the rod stock more toward the sending-out side, the rod stock accordingly, when moving toward the sending-out side with rotating, is supported with the sending-out side retreating face 56 following the cylindrical support face 54 and sent out then, the flaw due to the sending out side end part of the rotary rest 22 is suitably prevented.
