PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minify the entire weight of a thing moving in Z axis direction and attach/detach a work by a loader such as a gate shape loader without hindering. SOLUTION: This is the grinder for grinding a work by the grinding wheel 12 by relatively moving a machining main spindle 3 on whose tip the work is held and a rotatable grinding wheel shaft 11 on whose tip a grinding wheel 12 is held in the Z axis direction which is the axis direction of the machining main spindle 3 and X axis direction orthogonally crossing therewith. A X axis guide surface 20 extending to X axis direction is provided on a bed 1. A saddle 21 moving to X axis direction along X axis guide surface 20 is arranged on the bed 1. A Z axis guide surface 22 extending to Z axis direction is provided on the saddle 21. A grinding wheel stand 7 moving to Z axis direction along the Z axis guide surface 22 is arranged on the saddle 21.
