PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a removal timing of defective grains according to grain flow velocity in a color sorter. SOLUTION: During falling selection of grains, the presence or absence of interruption input of a grain detection signal is determined. If there is the interruption input, interval time from the last interruption input is stored to count the detected number of grains. When the count of the number of grains becomes a prescribed set number of grains, frequency distribution conditions of detection interruption time intervals of the maximum frequency are calculated. Based on the detection interruption time intervals of the maximum frequency, if it is long or short, the removal actuation timing of defective grains is determined so that actuation timing is lengthened or shortened, respectively. In this way, since actuation timing of a removing plate for removing defective grains is determined based on the grain detection interruption signal of a colored grain distinguishing part, the defective grains are removed according to grain flow velocity to maintain stable removing accuracy of the defective grains.
