The vehicle control apparatus also includes a control apparatus that includes a memory configured to store an authentication information and a controller configured to determine whether the authentication input matches the stored authentication information. The controller is also configured to control the vehicle according to the stored authentication information when the authentication input matches the stored authentication information.

a sensing unit configured to sense an authentication input of a user, the sensing unit comprising a sensor configured to sense one or more taps that are applied by the user to arbitrary positions within a preset region of the vehicle as the authentication input, the authentication input including a first tap and a touch input that follows the first tap; and a control apparatus comprising:
a memory configured to store an authentication information, anda controller configured to determine whether the authentication input matches the stored authentication information and to control, based on the authentication input matching the stored authentication information, the vehicle according to the stored authentication information, wherein the sensor includes an acceleration sensor configured to sense a rhythmic pattern associated with the touch input, wherein the controller is configured to control the vehicle based on a determination that the sensed rhythmic pattern matches the stored authentication information.
