PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance print quality without prolonging the print time. SOLUTION: When a print end position T3 is reached in the going path, a print head is stopped at a position T5 leading by a distance Lu+Ls ahead of a print end position T3, where Lu is the distance (rising distance) required for the print head to reach a target moving speed Vs after starting movement and Ls is the distance (speed settling time) required for settling the print operation after the target moving speed Vs of the print head is reached. In the return path, movement of the print head is started from the stop position T5 in the going path. Since the print start position T7 is located at a position leading by a distance Lu+Ls, printing is started under a state where the moving speed of the print head is settled.
