Succinic anhydride is made to react with 2-dimethylaminoethanol in the presence of toluene at 130-145 C and succinic anhydride to 2- dimethylaminoethanol to toluene molar ratio of 1:(3.0- 3.5):(0.5-1.0) followed by guaternization with iodomethane in aqueous ethanolic or aqueous acetonic medium containing 80-30% of ethanol or acetonic.
