PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more speedily and efficiently discover, diagnose and analyze a complicated fault consisting of a plurality of protocols than heretofore. SOLUTION: This communication protocol diagnostic device has a reception means 10 for converting a received signal from a communication line for the unit of a transmission message according to various kinds of set communication protocols, a diagnostic data output means 20 for separating the transmission data of a transmission message unit outputted from the reception means for the unit of transmission by communication protocols on respective layers and outputting them as data for communication protocol diagnosis, a storage means 50 having plural storage areas previously assigned by communication protocols on the respective layers for storing correspondent data for communication protocol diagnosis and a memory control means for writing the data for communication protocol diagnosis in the correspondent storage areas previously assigned by communication protocols on the respective layers inside the storage means and controlling the storage means so as to read out the data for communication protocol diagnosis stored in the designated storage area corresponding to a read request.
