1. A method of calculating an inlet temperature for exhaust gases entering a catalyst module in an exhaust gas after treatment system, comprising the steps of:
receiving, at a microprocessor of an engine system, an exhaust temperature of an exhaust gas prior to the exhaust gas entering a turbine of an internal combustion engine system; calculating, with the microprocessor, an amount of work extracted from the turbine utilizing parameters received by the microprocessor from a plurality of electronic control modules of the engine system; calculating, with the microprocessor, a first predicted temperature of the exhaust gases based upon the amount of work extracted by the turbine; utilizing, with the microprocessor, a low pass filtering model to arrive at a second predicted temperature of the exhaust gas; calculating, with the microprocessor, a third predicted temperature of the exhaust gas using a heat transfer model. |
