PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a number-of-people measuring device capable of accurately counting the number of passing people even in a narrow space. SOLUTION: When a sensor sheet 1 constituted of many pressure sensitive elements is treaded on, footprint information corresponding to a treading load is detected based on output from the sensor sheet 1 and the footprint information is stored in a storage means. Then, the footprint information detected this time and the footprint information stored in the storage means are compared and the footprint information of the same person as the footprint information at the time except the time of walking is excluded from a count. For instance, at the time of the footprint information at the time of walking, since the load of a heel part becomes larger than the other parts, whether or not it is the time of walking is judged by the load of the heel part. Also, when the one stored as the footprint information and the footprint information detected this time match, since it becomes a double count, it is excluded from the count of the number of the people in this case. In such a manner, since counting is performed by the treading load, the number of the passing people is accurately counted in the narrow space.
