PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly adjust the driving voltage so as to prevent a DC component from being applied to liquid crystal. SOLUTION: In test mode, a display screen of a liquid crystal display panel 10 is divided into two and while the scanning lines included in the upper half area are supplied with a scanning signal based upon a charging mode signal, the scanning lines in the lower half area are supplied with the scanning signal based upon a discharging mode signal. Then voltages V1 and V2 are so adjusted a specific time later so that the ratio of the luminance differences of the respective areas becomes constant.
