PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device which prevents the lowering of its uniformity and open area ratio and the lowering of the image quality of a display. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for producing an electrooptical device, a sealing material 5 is applied to the peripheral part of one substrate, another substrate is placed opposite to the substrate by way of the sealing material and the sealing material is cured by heating to bond the two substrates while leaving an appropriate interval. The apparatus has at least heating means H which hold the substrates between them, heat the sealing material applied part and cure the sealing material and pressurizing means 6, 7 which support the heating means and the substrates between them by pressure.
