The method involves positioning a patient in the radiation field according to predetermined criteria. At least a partial section image or a partial volume data set of the total irradiated volume is obtained with the radiation of the device. The image or data set is used to determine the exact position of the patient with respect to the radiation field, and may be compared with a desired position.
