PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the leakage of argon gas to practically use the gas by resolving such problem that the argon gas in a heating chamber is easily leaked out from near a furnace hearth at the inlet and the outlet of the furnace because the argon is heavier than the air, in the heating furnace using the argon gas as the atmosphere in the furnace. SOLUTION: Weir bank-like vessel 8 communicating with the inlet 6 and/or the outlet 7 in the above kind of heating furnace 1, are arranged and the argon gas from the furnace is stored in the vessel. Further, a heat-treating product is fed into the furnace while passing through the argon gas stored in the vessel and thus, it is prevented that the air stuck to the heat-treating product is accompanied into the heating chamber as the disturbance.
