PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a doffing method for automatic winders that can find a yarn end or the end of winding of full-wound packages, and an automatic winder. SOLUTION: Before doffing operations, a first step, whereat yarn Y on a full-wound package P and yarn Y on a fine spinning bobbin 6 are joined, guides the yarn Y on the fine spinning bobbin 6 side, being disengaged from a traverse drum 9, to a widthwise constant position of the full-wound package P, and next a second step winds the yarn Y on the fine spinning bobbin 6 side straight about the constant position of the full-wound package P and then cutting the yarn Y.
