PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow smooth shift to braking pressure control based on master cylinder pressure, while ensuring running stability, in the event that braking pressure generating means or pressure control valves are in abnormal while braking pressure is being controlled by the pressure control valves. SOLUTION: A master cylinder 1 is connected to wheel cylinders 5FL-5RR via first solenoid on-off valves 3FL-3RR and the braking pressure of a braking pressure generating mechanism 6 is supplied to the supply sides of pressure control valves 11FL-11RR via a second solenoid on-off valve 10. The output sides of the pressure control valves are connected to the wheel cylinders and the return sides of the pressure control valves are connected to a reservoir 1a via a third solenoid on-off valve 12. The output pressure of the master cylinder 1 is supplied to a stroke simulator 14 via a fourth solenoid on-off valve 13, and if the braking pressure generating mechanism 6 is in abnormal, pressure reducing control is performed so that a first variation is attained during pressure reduction time in which a braking pressure command value for each of the pressure control valve 11FL-11RR is set. Thereafter, the first solenoid on-off valve is opened and the second to fourth solenoid on-off valves are closed.
