1,3-BUTYLENE GLYCOL OF HIGH PURITY AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A 1,3-butylene glycol has at most 0.02 absorbance at 210 nm for each of the elution peaks in the range of 4.0-5.5 relative retention time based on 1.0 relative retention time of 1,3-butylene glycol (in HPLC analysis under specific conditions). An independent claim is also included for a production method for the high-purity 1,3-butylene glycol, comprising: (i) adding a base to crude 1,3-butylene glycol from which the high b.pt. component has been removed; (ii) heat treating; (iii) distilling the 1,3-butylene glycol; and (iv) distilling off the low b.pt. component from the 1,3-butylene glycol.
