PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform the filling of a material while preventing the contact of the material with air or the inclusion of air in the material when a container main body for filling is intermittently filled with a highly viscous and rapidly hardening (one-pack) material. SOLUTION: This filling apparatus is installed between an introducing conveyor 2, such as a roller conveyor, for conveying the main body S of a container for filling such as a pail can and a delivering conveyor 3, such as a roller conveyor, for delivering the container main body S, into which the filling is completed, to another step. The filling apparatus has an ascending and descending table 8, on which the container main body S for filling is set and which is provided at a filling position X where a material discharge unit 7 for discharging a viscous fluid is located. The ascending and descending table 8 has an engaging member which is provided at part of the table 8 and which is screwed and fitted into a guide means 9, and this guide means 9 is rotated by the turning of a stepping control motor 11. Thereby, the table 8, on which the container main body S for filling is set, is so structured as to ascend and descend at a predetermined speed.
