PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for trimming a shadow mask, in which uniform machined surfaces can be obtained in finishing the outer shape of the shadow mask using a plucking line. SOLUTION: A predetermined number of semi-product shadow masks 20 are laminated and mounted on a seat 12 of a fixing mount 11. An effective portion 21 of the semi-product shadow mask 20 is pressed against a pressing plate 14, so that the semi-product shadow mask 20 is mounted on the seat 12. A pair of (vertical) unnecessary portions 24Y1, 24Y2 of the semi-product shadow mask 20 are sandwiched between holding frames 13a, 13b, respectively. The holding frames 13a, 13b are repeatedly folded predetermined times on a point on which a lamination center line 15 of the laminated semi-product shadow mask 20 crosses plucking lines 23Y1, 23Y2, thereby removing the unnecessary portions 24Y1, 24Y2. Another pair of (lateral) unnecessary portions 24X1, 24X2 are removed in the same operating mechanism.
