PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control device and a display device capable of providing shift control of a dot unit in a horizontal direction of a character display by hardware, reducing the load of a microprocessor in display control, and increasing a processing speed. SOLUTION: This display control device comprises a display memory 16 for writing display data of a predetermined bit unit capable of storing the display data of all pixels of a display device 80, and further includes bit shifting means 10 for shifting a bit position of the display data of the above predetermined bit unit, and write masking means 11 for preventing writing of an optional bit of the display date which is bit-shifted. The display data of each line of a font pattern to be displayed is shifted by a predetermined amount by the bit shifting means 10 and only bit data allowed by the write masking means 11 is written in the display memory 16 so that the font pattern which is shifted by a predetermined dot in a horizontal direction of the display screen can be displayed.
