PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To steadily bring a sensitive material into close contact with a drum, to record a satisfactory image at a high speed, and to steadily peel the sensitive material from the drum. SOLUTION: An image forming device has a roll setting part 7 for setting the roll of a sensitive material such that its sensitive side faces outside, a cutter for cutting the sensitive material, carried from the roll setting part, into a sheet, and a squeeze roller for bringing the cut photoreceptive material into close contact with a drum, and a peeling member for peeling the sensitive material from the drum. The image forming device feeds the sheet in such a manner that it brings the sensitive material into close contact with the drum by the squeeze roller. Thereafter, while rotating the drum by a rotating-and- driving mechanism at a higher rotating speed, compared to a rotating speed during a close contacting operation, with the sensitive material held on the drum, the image forming device exposes the sensitive material according to a digital image signal, and peels the sensitive material from the drum by the peeling member after the exposure of the sensitive material. In the case, the time (sec./secs.) needed for the drum to substantially stop after the finish of the exposure is one sec. or longer to one min. or shorter.
