PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous resin dispersion capable of forming a coating film which exhibits an excellent weather resistance, more specifically excellent gloss retention, resistances to cracks, blisters, and yellowing, etc., over a long term and is excellent in adhesion to a substrate, especially to a soft film, and in resistances to water, staining, and solvents and to provide a coating composition prepared by using the same. SOLUTION: This resin dispersion contains, as essential ingredients, (A) a polymer prepared by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer component containing 5-99.5 wt.% polymerizable monomer having a cycloalkyl group (provided the sum of the amounts of monomers constituting the polymerizable monomer component is 100 wt.%) and (B) a hydrazine compound having at least two hydrazino groups.
