PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize a gap in a surface so as to heighten quality of the liquid crystal display element and to improve the yield. SOLUTION: In a sealing step by pressurizing after injection of a liquid crystal, only the part surrounded by a sealant 13 and utilized as a display area 5 is pressurized with a pressurizing jig 11 without pressurizing the seal part composed of the sealant 13. The average particle diameter of a gap material contained in the sealant 13 is preferably made larger than the average particle diameter of the gap material scattered on a substrate.
