SUBSTANCE: patient's blood plasma is first analyzed for level of average molecular weight substances and corresponding desired level to be achieved after plasmasorption is specified. Ratio of the two levels determines numbers of plasmaÎthrough-sorbent passages. Plasma, in particular, is passed through carbon hemosorbent at rate 100-200 ml/min and plasma-to- sorbent ratio no higher than 3.3:1 over a period of time that is calculated depending on the rate, number of passages, and volume of sorbed plasma.
