PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact fluorescent lamp allowing improvement of a light flux rising characteristic, even if the time left after turning off the lamp is relatively short, and to provide a bulb type fluorescent lamp using it. SOLUTION: In this fluorescent lamp, an arc tube 1 where three U-shaped glass tubes 2, 3, 4 are integrally connected by bridge connection has one discharge path inside it. One end parts 7, 8 of the U-shaped glass tubes 2, 4 in both end parts of the arc tube 1 are disposed with electrodes 9, 10, while lead wires 12 are provided with auxiliary amalgams 16, 18 near the electrodes 9, 10. The other end parts 23, 24 of the U-shaped glass tubes 2, 4 are formed with capillaries 25, 26, while the capillaries 25, 26 are provided with main amalgams 14, 15. One end part 27 of the central U-shaped glass tube 3 of the arc tube 1 is provided with another auxiliary amalgam 17.
