PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve strengths of images and a body to be transferred by setting a primer layer transfer means and a transfer mechanism to a region on an image receive layer including the whole or a part of a heat sensitive transfer image of an intermediate transfer medium. SOLUTION: A primer layer by a primer panel is thermally transferred once by a thermal head, whereby a primer layer 66 of one layer is formed to a region on an image receive layer including the whole or a part of a heat sensitive transfer image of an intermediate transfer medium. The primer layer is thermally transferred for a second time with the use of a remaining part of the primer panel, whereby a second primer layer 67 is layered on the first primer layer 66. When a medium 68 to be transferred is a paper medium, the primer layer 67 formed by the second transfer can be transferred to be buried into dents and projections 69 of a final surface of the recording medium heated and pressured by a heat roller.
