PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a red to infrared sensitive silver halide emulsion having high sensitivity and low fog and less liable to a change in the sensitivity due to a change in exposure conditions by incorporating a specified compound. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion contains at least one of compounds of formulae I-III, wherein Y1 is H, a bonding radical or the like, W11 and V21 are each H, an aliphatic hydrocarbon or the like, R is alkyl, aryl or the like, T1 and T21 are each a divalent combining group comprising an aliphatic hydrocarbon or a combining group, T11 is a divalent combining group comprising an aliphatic hydrocarbon, J1, J2 and J21-J23 are each a divalent combining group containing 0 or the like or a combining group, J11 is a divalent combining group containing 0 or the like, Ar1 and Ar21 are each an aromatic hydrocarbon, ArH1, ArH11 and ArH21 are each an aromatic hydrocarbon or an aromatic heterocyclic group, k1 is 1 or 2, k21 is 2-4, q11, q12 and q21 are each 0 or 1 and Q is a k21-valent combining group forming a bond with the group V21, T21 or ArH21 by way of the group J22.
