PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicament for treating seborrhiasis of the skin and/or scalp, in particular acne and/or blackhead and/or comedo by including a specific dimethoxyindolecarboxylic acid and/or like. SOLUTION: This medicament is obtained by including pref. 0.001-20 wt.% of a compound of the formula [R1 and R2 are each a (substituted) 1-6C alkyl, 7-12C aralkyl or the like] (pref. 4,6-dimethoxyindole-2-carboxylic acid or the like), its acylated modification and/or physiologically acceptable salt(s) thereof, singly or as a mixture. The compound of the formula is used in a composition used pref. as a cosmetic. This medicament may also contain a fatty substance, an organic solvent, a thickening agent, etc. In the case of an emulsion, the above composition as this medicament contain a fatty phase and an emulsifier at 5-50 wt.% and 0.5-20 wt.%, respectively.
