The drive device has a coil head (5,7;6,8) for generating electromagnetic forces that encloses folding blade (1) guide elements (3,4) and that generates a vertical movement of the folding blade. A lower coil head is driven to produce downward motion and an upper coil head to produce upward motion. An Independent claim is also included for a method of generating vertical movement of a folding blade.
