PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire fuse, having a heavy-current shutoff part and a light-current shutoff part and so structured that the heavy-current shutoff part is covered with an arc extinguishing member, where installation of the arc extinguishing member is facilitated and the member is prevented from breakage. SOLUTION: An electric wire fuse is composed of a cylindrical insulated vessel 7 with one end closed and the other end left open of a structure with an arc extinguishing member 6 being inserted and mounted on the outside of a shutoff member 5 in a heavy-current shutoff part of a fuse element 2 and an arc extinguishing substance 10 formed by filling the vessel 7 with an inorganic granular substance 8 and an inorganic bonding agent 9 for solidifying the substance 8.
