PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a camera more by effectively using a space within a camera housing in an electronic camera having a bending optical system. SOLUTION: The electronic camera possesses a photographing lens device 12 constituting the bending optical system by which a luminous flux from an object is fetched along a first optical axis OA1 which is horizontal and an image is formed on a CCD 92 after it is bent along a second optical axis OA2 that is perpendicular by a mirror 33. A memory card slot 13 and a stroboscope 15 are disposed on both sides at the inside of a housing 11 by holding the plane of the photographing lens device 12 including the first and second optical axes OA1 and OA2. A capacitor 19 for the stroboscope 15 is disposed on the lower side of the stroboscope 15 at the inside of the housing 11. The capacitor 19 is formed into a shape by which a length in a horizontal direction is sufficiently smaller than that in a perpendicular direction, and is arranged so that its longitudinal direction is made in parallel with the second optical axis OA2 of the photographing lens device 12.
