PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire which improves the structural durability of a bead part. SOLUTION: This pneumatic radial tire is provided with a carcass and a belt layer comprising a highly elastic cord disposed outside an inner carcass of a tread part, a carcass layer includes a carcass ply having a curl part which is passed inward of a bead core in the radial direction, returned, and erected on the inner side in the axial direction of the tire on a body part leading from the tread part to the outside in the axial direction of the tire of the bead core of the bead part via the side wall part, a bead apex having a tip tapered sectional shape extending outwardly in the radial direction of the tire from the bead core between the body part and the curl part of the carcass ply is disposed, the curl part of the carcass ply is erected along the bead apex, and a cushioning layer comprising an organic fiber cord layer or a rubber layer is provided between the curl part and the bead apex.
