PURPOSE: To provide a check valve which is used for the water jet pump of a water jet loom, can inhibit the generation of a turbulent flow on the passage of water, can control the generation of a pulsating flow in the jet water, and can enhance the jetting rate of the jet water. CONSTITUTION: This check valve 1 for the water jet pump of a water jet loom is used for flattening the seal surface of a valve seat 28 having an inflow port 29 and the seal surface 38 of a valve element 30, allowing the axis of the inflow port 29 to coincide with the axis of the valve element 30, and adding the energizing force of a spring 34 constituting a valve element presser 31 to the valve element 30 to closely contact the seal surfaces 37, 38 with each other, thus closing the flow of water 3. Therein, a projection 39 which is a cone whose axis is coincident with that of the inflow port 29 and which is projected in the inflow port 29 in the mutual contact state of the seal surfaces 37, 38 on the closure of the valve is disposed on the valve element 30.
