PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which print throughput can be enhanced. SOLUTION: A heater ON times counter 23 counts a heater ON times required for forming a band of image based on the quantity of image data for each band. Every time when a band of image is formed, a head temperature calculating section 24 calculates an estimated temperature of a print head after formation of a next band of image based on the temperature of the print head detected by a head temperature sensor 15 and the heater ON times for the next band of image data. A print stop time determining section 25 determines a print stop time before starting formation of a next band of image based on the estimated temperature of the print head. A control section 26 executes formation of a next band of image according to that print stop time.
