PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable for illumination which is the optical cable for illumination to be inserted into a treatment implement insertion path of a scope of an electronic endoscope system and is capable of adjusting an illumination range (illumination intensity) of the illumination light emitted from the distal end of the cable for illumination in the state of keeping the scope fixed to a prescribed position. SOLUTION: A tubular long-sized member 70 is inserted into the treatment implement insertion path 20 and its distal end is provided with a first lens element 72 for illumination. An optical guide member 74 is freely slidably and partially inserted into the tubular long-sized member and its distal end is provided with a second lens element 76 for illumination. The proximal end of the optical guide member is optically connected to a light source 52. The tubular long-sized member is internally provided with displacing means (78A and 78B) disposed at the proximal end of the tubular long-sized member in order to displace the optical guide member along the longitudinal direction of the tubular long-sized member.
