A support bracket for a door or window lintel, e.g. for supporting the masonry above a roller shutter mounting, has the hanger (3) attached to the horizontal support plate (4) via a rectangular reinforcing plate (8). The support plate is C-shaped and the reinforcing plate grips into the C-profile. Further support is provided by a reinforcing strip (9) along one edge of the support plate.
