The correction circuit provides the difference value between each actual sampled signal value and its second differential, with comparison of the difference value with a defined amplitude range on either side of the sampled signal value, to allow replacement of the difference value with the upper or lower limit value when it lies outside this range. The amplitude range limit values are provided by the maximum and minimum values of several sampled signal values on either side of the actual sampled signal value, the corrected difference values used for providing the actual signal characteristic.
