The invention relates to a method for producing compounds of formula X(1-a) R<2>a P (OR<1>)2 (I) or X(2-a) R<2>a P (OR<1>) (II), wherein X: Cl, Br, J; R<1>: an organic radical; R<2>: an organic radical; and a: 0.1, characterised in that a) a compound (III) of formula PX(3-a)R<2>a is reacted with a compound (IV) of formula R<1>OH at temperatures of 10 to 200 DEG C, the molar ratio of the X radicals used to compound (IV) being 1:10 to 10:1, to obtain a mixture (V) containing compound (I) and compound (II), b) compounds (I) and (II) are separated from the mixture (V) and c) compound (I) or compound (II) is returned to step (a).
