PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer of a tape measure, capable of easily installing in a metal case and producing easily and inexpensively. SOLUTION: A tape measure, of which the case is formed with metal and the tape winding drum 62 installing a tape winding spring 63, is fitted freely rotatably in the shaft 66 of the case inside wall is provided. A buffer member 1, formed with metal installed in a tape inlet/outlet piece 61, has bearing pieces 3 having bearing holes 31 are provided at the back of left and right ends of the main body 2. A tape-passing hole 4 is provided at the lower part of the main body 2, and a buffer piece 5 is extended upward the main body 2.
