PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate type heat exchanger capable of improving the efficiency of heat exchanging by correcting and uniformly distributing flow rate of each heat exchanging element. SOLUTION: In the plate type heat exchanger comprising a heat exchanging element 2 having one set of two plates 4 having openings at both longitudinal ends so that the elements are matched at the openings 7 and superposed and a space between the two plates is formed as a first fluid passage and space between the elements is formed as a second fluid passage, a means for controlling amounts of the fluids supplied to the elements is provided in a channel 8 for passing the first fluid between the openings of the plates. In this case, the means for controlling the amounts of the fluids stepwisely changes the sizes of supply ports 11, 13 of a spacer 10 or an overhanging part 12 provided at the channel 8 between the openings of the two plates and the sizes of supply ports of approach parts for connecting the channel to the elements at the respective elements.
