PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a waste-treating device where a user can choose either one of carbonization or drying treatment to be completed at a drying stage. SOLUTION: In the waste-treating device where a waste housing part is heated by a burner for heating the wastes, and gas being generated from the heated wastes is led into a gas combustion chamber for burning by a combustion burner, a drying treatment mode that completes the heating of the wastes when it is judged that the wastes have been dried after the heating to the wastes is started, and a carbonization treatment mode that completes the heating to the wastes when it is judged that the wastes have been carbonated are provided, and either one of the drying and carbonization treatment modes can be selected, thus choosing whether the wastes are to be carbonated or dried.
