[Classes 46 and 111] Apparatus for treating sewage comprises a fermentation chamber 3, one or more oxidizing chambers 4, 5 and a filter 6. The liquid is delivered to each oxidizing chamber and to the filter through cone-shaped passages 20 and over a sill 15. The liquid is distributed over the filter by a steel tray 10 with diamond - shaped apertures. Air is supplied to honeycomb brickwork 23 below the filter by pipes 24 and after rising through the filter, passes through the oxidizing and fermentation chambers and is discharged through a pipe 25. The fermentation chamber has a baffle 12.</p> |
