PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of smoothly performing fermentation/ageing treatment. SOLUTION: In a garbage treatment apparatus wherein a garbage treatment tank for fermenting and ageing garbage is arranged in a casing and a charging lid is arranged to the upper part of the garbage treatment tank in a freely openable and closable manner and a stirring means for fermenting and ageing garbage under stirring is arranged in the garbage treatment tank, caretaking control for operating the stirring means intermittently until the charging lid is opened and closed when the charging lid is not continuously opened and closed for a predetermined time is performed, and further, when the excessive moisture state in the garbage treatment tank is detected by a moisture sensor provided in the garbage treatment tank, the caretaking control is not performed even if the charging lid is not continuously opened and closed for a predetermined time.
