PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a printing quality, improve a reliability and simplify a production process by preventing a height misalignment from a substrate face of a recording part. SOLUTION: A thermal head includes a longitudinal substrate 2, a heat insulating layer having a projecting part 3a formed of a heat insulating material and extended with a fixed breadth in a longitudinal direction on one primary face of the substrate, a heating resistor 4 of a resistant material piled in a predetermined thickness on the projecting part of the heat insulating layer, a common electrode 5 arranged in pressed contact with the heating resistor, a plurality of individual electrodes 6 arranged opposite via a space to a leading end of the common electrode, and a protecting film layer 7 formed on the heating resistor. The plurality of individual electrodes have one ends pressed in contact with the heating resistor and the other ends connected to a driving circuit. A heating resistor 4a at the space part between the individual electrode and the common electrode functions as the recording part 10. The projecting part 3a is formed linearly along the longitudinal direction of the substrate 2, with having a substantially flat top face. The recording part 10 is formed to the flat top face.
